Christopher Whitcutt SC

Professional background and experience:

Christopher Whitcutt is a senior counsel at the Johannesburg Bar. He has a BA LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand.  He was accredited as a commercial mediator at the inaugural CEDR mediator skills training course in South Africa in April 2007.  Christopher has a broad commercial practice, specialising in commercial mediations, restraints of trade, unlawful competition and defamation. His interest in mediation dates back to 1994 when, as a candidate attorney, he attended the IMSSA mediation course hosted by John Brand and Felicity Steadman.

Mediation experience and style:

Christopher has conducted more than ten commercial mediations as a mediator and participated in others representing one of the parties. He works hard to create a respectful environment within which the parties are encouraged to work together toward agreement, whilst not avoiding the difficult conversations that are often needed to unlock the dispute.
