This meeting will revisit the rationale, present the progress made and outline the implications for mediators of professionalising the sector going forward. We will also get insight into the Law Reform Commission’s initiative to draft a Mediation Act to regulate the industry and a view from the Johannesburg High Court where Rule 41A is being implemented.
Hendrik Kotze, who was pivotal in establishing the voluntary professional body, DiSAC will address the professionalisation topics.
Roland Sutherland, who was instrumental in establishing Rule 41A will give insights from the side of the bench on the role of mediation there, how Rule 41A is progressing and what the challenges are.
The session also serves as an opportunity to network and drinks will be served after the event. To allow maximum reach, there will also be an online link for out of towners.
