Maryke qualified as an attorney in 2011, practising until she became an advocate in 2017. Currently, she is an advocate at the Johannesburg Society of Advocates. Her prior experience includes six years as an attorney at Malcolm Lyons & Brivik Attorneys Incorporated in South Africa, where she oversaw their Johannesburg offices, and an associate at N Kelly Incorporated. Her legal practice spans a broad range of areas, including commercial law, with specific expertise in construction, insolvency, insurance, and banking. Additionally, Maryke is experienced in medical malpractice and third-party claims. Her comprehensive background equips her with a nuanced understanding of diverse legal issues across multiple sectors.

Maryke is an accredited mediator, with Conflict Dynamics since 2022 and the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) since 2023.
